Petworth Cottage Museum

The First Twenty Years

In 2016 we were able to stage an exhibition to celebrate twenty years of the museum. Extracted from the Petworth Society's scrapbooks of cuttings, the pictures and transcripts collected here occupied three sides of the exhibition hall. Five years on we cannot stage another physical exhibition but we can show these cuttings here. Unless otherwise stated the cuttings are all from the Midhurst & Petworth Observer. 22 Winter Opening 26th October 2006

The cottage museum in High Street, PETWORTH, is opening to the public every Saturday and Sunday from November 4 until December 3. Visitors will be able to experience the magic of the former Petworth House seamstress's little home, illuminated on a winter's afternoon by gas and oil lamps and candles, and warmed by the glow of its coal-fired range. Opening times are 2-4.30 p.m. with an extra session from 6.30-8.30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2 to coincide with the Christmas lights switch-on in Petworth and late shopping. Admission costs £2.50 for adults and 50p for children.
